Woah, Roland. What a tale. Must admit I was captivated by the beautiful images also. A fitting Halloween creepy story. Gotta watch out for those mushrooms. I like the way you incorporated some tribal history, Fine work. And great to have you writing for WEP.
You've got it all here! Potentially deadly mushrooms, a mysterious black "cat" with interesting linguistic talents and native history. Once again, you've entangled me in one of your tales.
I have always loved your tribal references Roland. I love mythology. A beautiful rendition. Loved the musical reference too. That sullen darkness is fitting to your prose. You have turned me on to some awesome music over the years. Way cool excerpt, really loved it.
This tale draws the reader into a difficult to understand world, one fraught with anger and deception. I did feel sorry for Scofield. Even the cat had no sympathy. Interesting how the very real history is woven into the dark yet fascinating tale.
Hi, This is very good and you had me bound as I read it until the end. There will be a reckoning day, but no one knows when. I believe that. Shalom shaom
This was awesome. I love tales with cats, and mushroom rings are intriguing. I like the use of both here. And Elu - a fascinating spirit/god. I listened to the music also - you always have great music and some of my favorite new loves have come from your recommendations. Thanks for this interesting story. I will have nightmares when my cat snuggles up next to me tonight :_
Wow! So, so well done. I was hooked right from the beginning and superb imagination with the mushrooms, the cat, everything creepy. Loved how you Incorporated the pictures. A perfect fit for the theme.
Hi Roland ... not nice at all ... the spirits rise and absorb us ... or teach us, if we're prepared to learn and remember. Mushrooms - beware ... as the others have said a very unearthly WEP - cheers Hilary

A very spooky tale. Though with the encroaching mushrooms I figured it would have something to do with fairies. I was pleased to be wrong. Well done
