You ever wonder about the mental stability of those making films these days?

a film by the cult favorite, Kevin Smith, about a young man being slowly mutilated into becoming a human walrus.
It cost $3 million and so far has earned only one million back.
BUT THE FILM HAS GOTTEN HIM FINANCING FOR HIS CLERKS 3 film.
You ever wonder what masquerades as thinking in the heads of the studio bosses?
Then, there is the new TV show STALKER --
The first 2 minutes were hard for most to watch. I did not even bother trying.
An innocent, bound woman is mocked, slowly tortured, and then gleefully murdered by a hooded man.
The action is so leisurely, gruesomely detailed it seems as if the show's creator and writer, Kevin Williamson, was entranced with the scene.
This Halloween the first SAW is coming back to the theaters for its 10th Anniversary "Celebration."
It made over $100 million worldwide for just a little over $1 million cost. You guessed it.
It spawned a long line of sequels where helpless victims were forced to self-mutilate or mutilate others
in a frenzied attempt to escape a maze of tortures.
SAW II and SAW III made even more money.
Of course, you can pander to sadists for just so long before they go elsewhere for their jollies.
The next 2 SAW's dipped a bit. SAW VI dropped like a brick at the box office.
But I fear the re-issue of the original SAW will make many millions for no production cost at all.
WHAT DOES ALL THIS SAY OF THE MIND-SET OF OUR CULTURE?
NO WONDER COMIC BOOK MOVIES ARE DOING SO WELL.
AT LEAST THERE IS A MORAL COMPASS TO THEM.
