A is for ADIEU The Bells Are Tolling the Last Day of April

*

Why can't we get all the people together in the world that we really like and then just stay together?

I guess that wouldn't work.

Someone would leave. Someone always leaves. Then we would have to say good-bye. I hate good-byes.

I know what I need. I need more hellos.

~Charles M. Schulz

"The world is round and the place which may seem like the end
may also be the beginning."

~ Hibbs, the Bear with Two Shadows

Hasn't this A to Z Challenge been an experience?

At the start, it seemed to stretch endless before us.  How would we do it?  But we did.

We made new friends along the way and said Hello to old ones.

And we died.

Yes, we are no longer the same person who started this trek.

That person drifted away day by day until here we stand, the product of our words and the words of others ...

and the product of the lessons we took away from those words.

To part is sad.  But to stay together yet be distant in our hearts at the same time is tragic.

A-Z 2013  is over.  But we are still here, together in the blogverse.  Let us remind ourselves:

No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other's worth.

Can miles truly separate you from friends?

If you want to be with someone you care for, aren't you already there?

What have you taken away from this year's A-Z Challenge?

"Don't cry because it's over.
Smile because it happened."

~Theodor Seuss Geisel

  2. Alex:
Wasn't the REDS II trailer fun? This Challenge was fun -- of course the ghost of Mark Twain having me do it backwards lent it a certain something!! :-)

  3. Apart from don't participate in any long range blog challenges when your WiFi is squirrelly and unreliable, I learned that quality rather than quantity of interaction is what's important. Stopping by 50 blogs each day and commenting, "I'm here from the A to Z Challenge" is great, but making five new friends whose blog posts are now never-misses? That's invaluable.

I hate to hear that your WIFI is acting up. Yes, as a rare blood courier, forever on the road, I was limited to the number of friends I could -- so I tried to make each of my comments of substance or at least worthy of a smile! :-)

Like you, I've met some new and old friends that has made this challenge worthwhile. Roland

  5. Hi, Roland, yes, I've enjoyed my April jaunt as usual. Renewed some old friendships and established some new ones. I tried to visit at least fifteen other bloggers each day, as well as leaving comments, but some people just didn't make it easy to leave a comment, couldn't find the key. Oh well. Best regards to you, my friend! Ruby

As a rare blood courier, I found it difficult to find the time to visit all the friends I wanted to.

And no, some people do not make it easy to leave a comment, do they?

Don't be a stranger. I'm glad we both had fun this time! :-)

  9. What lovely closing comments, Roland. We did make it and connected with new friends and old. It was my first year and I'm glad I participated. I wish I could have visited more people, but it was hit or miss on any given day, but what fun!

  10. Hi Roland .. yea you and Gary made it to A .. the rest of us have been sweating to make it to Z and you left that behind days ago!!

Have I really got to wait to 2nd August for Red 2 - loved the video clip ... so that is one mainstream movie I will get to see!!

I'm so glad I participate in this Challenge - love meeting old friends, see people work the alphabet backwards!, and meeting new great friends along the way ..

A year ahead to catch up on all those I missed!

    Cheers Hilary

    It was fun, wasn't it?

    Hilary:
Going backwards is natural for me. I think I just may be Heyoka! (Sacred Clown in Lakota!) Rest for a bit and pace yourself!

    Maggie:
I'm happy you enjoyed this post and the wit of Mark Twain in yesterday's post! You have a beautiful blog!

    Wendy:
It was certainly a challenge with my blood courier job!!

    Jeremy:
Your friendship makes me stronger and feel lighter for your humor! Rest and heal for a bit!!
