WANT A NEW KINDLE FIRE?

By any measure, the Amazon Kindle has been a big hit;

analysts estimate the company has sold more than 18 million of the monochromatic e-book readers since its November 2007 debut.

Still, that success pales in contrast to its most colorful competitor:

Apple has sold around 29 million iPads since just April 2010, and may sell 75% of all tablet computers purchased this year.

Today, Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos hopes to change that.

This morning, he introduced four new Kindles, slashing prices to an entry level of just $79. He also debuted a brand new Amazon tablet, the Kindle Fire. It sells for $199, compared with $499 for an iPad.

So, Kindle Fire… what do you get?” 18 million songs, movies, TV… 14.6 ounces, dual core processor, multi-touch 7″ display, free cloud storage, Amazon Silk web broweser, Whispersync…

AND RIGHT HERE, ONE WILL BE GIVEN AWAY. DETAILS TO SOON FOLLOW. IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED.

  7. Charity :
I would be very pleased if you stopped being a Lurker. You know this is Halloween month and the monsters always grab the lurkers in the shadows! LOL.

    Michael :
Yep, I'm giving one away, but you know there're these pesky rules. More to come on them.

    Francine :
Ah, a lady's handbag always weighs a ton! At least those belonging to the ladies in my life always did. Gotta love new gizmo's.

    J.A. :
Once again, my stalwart and maddeningly honest best friend will be picking the winners. Yes, the runner's up prize is an autographed Stephen King novel.

    Sarah :
I'm feeling better. How about you? Still tired? I'm a bit low on energy these days myself! I hope you win the eReader.

    Wendy :
Please de-lurk. I've missed you. The details of my Kindle-Fire contest will soon be here,. Roland

  9. Thanks, Elliot :
This Christmas season will see many Kindles given as gifts due to the four new kinds annoounced today.

It occurred to me that instead of trying to hawk my polished novels to paranoid agents, fearful of the changing publishing world, I should surf the waves of this cyber tidal wave.

Thanks to several years of dedicated writing, I had a backlist of novels that I could be proud of. In fact, their detriment in the eyes of the agents would be their strength :

They exist in the same world : secondary characters in one novel take on ceneter stage in another novel.

The same supernatural empires and power brokers vie in all of the novels. There are four major hero cycles to my mythos that link up to make a Supernatural World War III in the making.

Just like in WWII, there are different theaters of actions. The board has been set, the players lined up, and all Hell is breaking loose.

I tried to be a modern Homer with earthly kings becoming pawns of supernatural entities -- where a Ulysses can trump an assortment of Olympians with his wits alone.

13 novels (that can be read as a stand-alone) telling one huge story with four major hero arcs. If this Christmas finds readers liking one book, they will find 12 more to gobble up.

Wish me luck, Elliot. It's going to be a wild ride! Roland

  10. It's a good thing it got good ratings because I'm going to buy one. Kindle for PC is fine but the laptop screen still hurts my eyes and gives me a headache. And there are so many books on there I'd like to finish reading....yours are at the top of my list. Kindle Fire...that's the color one--isn't it? I read it's pretty crafty. You can pretty much do anything on it. I don't need anything that fancy though. :)

Yes, but color is color! And it does Flash, too. I hope you get around to reading my book and enjoying it, Roland
