When I first started blogging,
I posted 5 to 7 times a week!
Hey, I was just starting out
and didn't know better.
And Blogging was a
different kind of place then
Posting less often gives you a chance to put
more thought, more effort
into your posts.
It gives you time to like, ah,
actually write your book.
It gives time for your readers
to visit.
I mean your readers have lives to live.
Give them some time to live it
and get back to you.
If your post stays
at the top of your blog
for several days,
the more likely a new visitor will see it.
SO HOW OFTEN DO YOU POST?
IS IT LESS THAN YOU USED TO?
WHY?
Hi Roland ... I don't have a schedule ... but try and post every week - preferably something educative ... and something I know is recorded for me (mainly) - i.e. it interested me and I wrote about it - and can find it again. I just settled into posting when I feel like it ... unless it's a blog hop then I follow along.
ReplyDeleteTake care - cheers Hilary
Like you, I consider my own blog my cyber-diary. Have a pleasant as possible time settling in with your place to live. :-)
DeleteI've been around one per week for several years now. It works better. As you said, I can put more into just one post.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was how I managed to do 4 personal NaNo's these past four months!
DeleteWhen I started, it was three times a week. That was pretty common back then (as you know ). It became once a week for sanity reasons. Sometime last year, I dropped to once a month with maybe a second one now and then.
ReplyDeleteIt allows me to get other stuff done, like that writing you were talking about.
We must adapt to our own psyche and energy when writing, right? Sent you an audio book I thought you might enjoy. :-)
DeleteLast year, I got into a routine of posting once every 10 days. I'm trying to break that now to see how throwing in some more frequent shorter bits from time to time might go over.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see.
I'll probably be back to long ones once every 10 days.
Spicing your posts up with shorter ones might garner you new readers. Some first timers are put off by long posts. Thanks for following!
DeleteThank you, Roland! :)
ReplyDeleteHibbs wanted to send you something! :-) One southpaw to another.
DeleteIt's about the same. Varies quite a bit from month to month. Sometimes 8 or 9 times a month, and others only 2 or 3.
ReplyDeleteSome months there are more things that nudge me into writing about them, too. Thanks for dropping by and being nice enough to comment.
DeleteJust read the embattled Amy Grant's daily prayer: 'Lord, lead me today to those I need and to those that need me and let something I do matter eternally."
ReplyDeleteSeems like there are some outlets who refuse to sell her albums. Not Christian enough.
I'm a Gypsy Christian myself so my heart goes out to her ... and I like her daily prayer. "-)
We all got burned out back then, blogging 3 or more times a week. And it is difficult to write and live when all you're doing is blogging. So it sounds like we all do what we can now, trying to keep friendships going. I'm so glad you kept your blog intact. Wish I had done the same. It feels like I've come after a long while away. :)
ReplyDeleteIt helps that I don't have a social life! :-) It is so good to have you back in my cyber-home, Ann!
DeleteI cling to my blog, but I post less because I have wanted to publish my seasonal books. The Valentine/Mardi Gras fantasy is just coming up! Whew! I think I will take a break after that one!
