Alice Wentworth here:
"I hear the portents even now in the blackness of the encroaching shadows.
The moon is dark, and the spirits dance in the night.
There is terror in the sky, for upon the moon has sunk an eclipse foretold in no books of men or of earth's myths.
I have looked upon all that the universe has to hold of horror,
and even the skies of spring and the flowers of summer must ever afterward be poison to me.
So should you have breath left over from your prayers for yourself --
sing a canticle for me."

How extraordinary is that? It's cooler than the other side of your pillow. :-)

I checked and I don't have this one. So, please sir, could I have one if there's enough? (in my best Oliver Twist voice)
ReplyDeleteRe - that cover, is that Alice's mother? If not, who? (or Victor's mother?) Just wonderin'
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed listening to the audio book I won. It's been a long time since I'd listened to older versions of audiobooks and the quality is better in yours.
D.G.:
ReplyDeleteThe blonde is, indeed, Alice's mother. It depicts her in the act of turning her daughter into the being she is now. Mother issues in spades!
You are in better luck than poor Oliver: I'm happy to send you a free audiobook! :-)
I'm glad you enjoyed listening to the last audiobook. Francene is a true voice artist. She does an equally good job in UNDER A VOODOO MOON.
Thanks for always visiting. It means a lot. :-)
