I AM A GOD

I Am a God.

How many Caesars, tyrants, and delusionals have proclaimed that?

Kanye West is the latest speaker of those words in his latest song.

"I know He the Most High, but I am a close tie," rhymes Kanye West, before sounding like he's breaking into tongues.

I'm not offended.  Saddned.  Mostly worried for his new child.

Despite what I wrote in my FATHER'S DAY post, I'm thinking Kanye being an absentee father might not be a bad thing for his child.

In promoting his critically acclaimed new album, YEEZUS, Kanye says:

"I think what Kanye West is going to mean is something similar to what Steve Jobs means."

(Victor Standish shakes his head at anyone who speaks of himself in the 3rd person.)

"I am undoubtedly, you know, Steve of Internet, downtown, fashion, culture. Period. By a long jump. I honestly feel that because Steve has passed, you know, it’s like when Biggie passed and Jay-Z was allowed to become Jay-Z.

I’ve been connected to the most culturally important albums of the past four years, the most influential artists of the past ten years.

You have like, Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, Henry Ford, Howard Hughes, Nicolas Ghesquière, Anna Wintour, David Stern.

I think that’s a responsibility that I have, to push possibilities, to show people:

'This is the level that things could be at.'

So when you get something that has the name Kanye West on it, it’s supposed to be pushing the furthest possibilities.

I will be the leader of a company that ends up being worth billions of dollars, because I got the answers. I understand culture.

I am the nucleus."

Yeah, Kanye. And I am the Walrus.

  1. Delusions of grandeur. It seems to affect certain celebrities at certain points in their careers.

Thanks for adding your comments to the Hibbs discussion again. I was pleased to learn more about Elu in The Bear with Two Shadows.

  3. sometimes we look at people "celebs" as heroes or roll models... i say the people in your family, social circles or people who have proven to just survive... those we should look at as a stepping stone.

we make mistakes, we fall... picking ourselves up, that is the challenge i don't need these "stars" telling me who they are or where they are going...

It saddens me to see journalists encourage his delusions. I am fearful of the fate of his child with such a father.

I try to show different facets of my company of players in the various novels in which they appear.

In END OF DAYS, you learn of Samuel's love of flying and that he flew in WWI. Who do you think really shot down the Red Baron? :-)

    Donna:
Obviously Kanye is dysfunctional whose mental compass does not point true north.

    Jeremy:
More ... if Kanye were such a paragon, he would not have the compulsion to brag of himself so. You are right: the silent heroes in our lives are the ones to cheer.

    Alex:
    I knew it! :-)

  5. I didn't know it was Sam that shot down the Red Baron (I have that book of yours, I think, now I have to re-read it) My view of history has changed!

    And Alex has confessed! Wow.

In END OF DAYS when Sam is about to pilot the President's Blackhawk helicoptor, he reminds Wolf Howl how he piloted bi-planes in WWI. The book where Sam shoots down the Red Baron is in a future book -- and the Baron truly is red in nature - a revenant.

Yes, Alex has confessed to the world! On my blog!! :-)

  8. I really can't stand him. He does push...the boundaries of arrogance, narcissism, self absorption...and I have to stop there. Wow. Just wow.

  9. Angela:
Kanye had me at a loss for words at the start, too. Sigh.

    Words Crafter:
Yes, just wow. And he is a new father of an impressionable baby girl. It makes me want to weep.

  10. I wonder if this guy has to have extra wide doors to fit his ego through.

Sasdly, when a man starts talking about being a god and Steve Jobs dying so he could rise in the limelight, we're talking delusional dysfunctional here not arrogance.

It is scary-making that the media is giving him press time.

Thanks for visiting and staying to chat! :-)
