So you can read my books

On July 14th, I proposed that CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 might well be based on Marvel's crossover saga:

The government demands each metahuman to register, revealing his name and agreeing to become part of a government militia if drafted.

Steve Rogers saw what Germany demanding Jews to register devolved into and disagrees.

Tony Stark is on the government's side.

According to VARIETY, Robert Downey Jr. is on the verge of signing on to CAPTAIN AMERICA 3,

a move that would bring the CIVIL WAR storyline from Marvel’s comic books to the big screen and trigger the start of a new phase of movies from Marvel Studios.

The actor is in final negotiations to play billionaire Tony Stark in the third installment,

which is slated to begin production in the Spring for a May 6, 2016 release.

Steve Rogers once more is on the run to avoid arrest.

The moral question and battle with his Avengers teammate essentially makes Stark a villain of sorts in CAPTAIN AMERICA 3,

providing Downey with a meaty role he could play out into future Marvel films, including a fourth AVENGERS.

The CIVIL WAR storyline did not end well for Captain America:

But as with the Battle of the Alamo, Steve Rogers dying won the war for human rights.

Downey, who earned $50 million for THE AVENGERS alone, will collect around $40 million plus back-end participation for CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 said sources,

and will get an additional payout if CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 outperforms “Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s” $714 million worldwide haul.

Since the actor did not appear in the first two “Captain America” films,

the thinking is that if the third installment surpasses the last movie, its success could be attributed to Downey.

Downey also has been wanting to play a larger role in future films

as a way to remain creatively involved and close to his fan base that would undoubtedly come out to see his non-Marvel movies.

  1. How clever you are for predicting just what storyline the next movie will take! I'm not a huge superhero movie fan but I do like Iron Man, and Downey can play the anti-hero better than anyone.

But his salaries/royalties for starring in those movies--I can't even wrap my brain around those numbers.

  2. I've been reading about this. Will make for an epic storyline. While Downey will be a big draw, I think the third movie will still do even better business than the last two.
Downey is going to be really busy the next couple years playing Iron Man.

  3. Helena:
Just lucky in the prediction. :-)

Scarlet Johannson earned more from THE AVENGERS than Chris Evans!

And you're right: RDJ's profits from the Marvel's films is staggering!!

RDJ almost didn't get the job in Capt. #3 -- they wanted him to do a minor 3 week role with meager pay -- he asked for a major role and salary appropriate, and the head of Marvel went ballistic.

Luckily, Feige and RDJ's agency convinced the studio head that the Civil War storyline was meant to shape the rest of the Marvel's movies.

In a way, RDJ will be doing IRON MAN 4, but in other people's movies!

  4. I cannot tell you how I am looking forward to this, it's going to be the biggest film since Moses parted the red sea. Great call on the predictions.

I have to ask, I want to still finish my Avengers collection of autographs... which side do I need to join for this to might happen or maybe some simple bribes?

  5. Jeremy:
I think it will blow Bats Vs. Supes out of the water.

What autographs do you still need? I think you have all the ones I have access to. Just drop me a line. :-)

  6. Looking forward to this movie. Yeah, definitely do not want to be on the receiving end of a serious right hook from a man in an armor suit. That's going to leave a mark.
