Victor Standish is dead.

Hurricane Katrina has devastated New Orleans. The preternaturals are coming out to hunt. The only functioning high school is operated by the Tuatha de Danann poised to invade the world of mortals.
Revenants from Europe are inflitrating New Orleans. Ningyo's are prying open the portal to the Nameless Ones to return home. The last of the Olympians gather in the shadows of a ruined French Quarter to prey on the fallen.
Each faction feels on the brink of triumph.
But they are all of them deceived.
Something has escaped its bonds. Something much older than Earth. Terror is its diet. And now, no one is safe.
Who stands in the breech now? A shattered Alice Wentworth. The two girls who betrayed Victor to his death. An emotionally gutted Samuel McCord.
Enter Estanatlehi, The Turquoise Woman, and her three grandsons:
Wolf Howl, Toomy Starks, and the philosopher/mage, Hibbs, the bear with two shadows.
The End of All Things has dawned.
{Look for it this June}

HOLY you know what, Batman...
ReplyDeleteGeez, Roland. Have I been gone that long? What a climax! Too exciting. Where do you find the time?
I can't begin to tell you how awed and proud I am of you and your writing. You published so many books this past year, I can't keep up with them.
I am spinning my wheels, but can't seem to get any further. All is good though. I've been busy with an exciting new client. This home will be the jewel of my design collection. A project that I can create from start to finish, furnishings and all, not just the remodel.
I will fill you in on the details via email. I miss you, my friend. Sorry I've been so scarce.
Wow. I had to re-read this a couple of times to get who was who. Wow!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a truly phenomenal universe you've created, Roland!! Amazing!!
Take care
x
Like the Lovecraft aspect. And need to get my wife a similar outfit as on the cover.
ReplyDeleteYou killed off Victor? I never saw that coming. I haven't had a chance to buy The Rival yet. My blog break isn't going as I had planned; my writing mind has taken a holiday too I guess.
ReplyDelete.......dhole
Michael:
ReplyDeleteI thought I offended you somehow. I'm glad that I was mistakened. I hope your interior designing takes off royally. Maybe someone in Monaco needs your talent? Hey, we can hope!
Kitty:
Yes, it makes sense in the context of the novel. I promise. LOL. I am having fun with my linked universe novels. Glad you are, too.
Alex:
If you got your wife that cover outfit, I fear she would fly all the way to Louisiana just to pimp-slap me! Yes, I am going for creepy and spooky with the stubborn defiance of the human spirit in the face of certain death.
Donna:
I didn't kill off Victor. The readers did. Or should I say the lack of readers.
In the past six weeks, no one has bought THE RIVAL.
I can't tempt buyers with autographed lithographs by Michael Whelan or free Spock Bears. No sense writing tales no one wants to read, right?
I am 50% finished with BEST OF ENEMIES. Should THE RIVAL start to sell better, I have a way-out or a way back in for Victor. Oh, and Victor keeps on appearing in a mysterious way throughout BEST OF ENEMIES.
So if you guys want to save Victor Standish, buy THE RIVAL, even give it away to friends.
I will not get the money from it or BEST OF ENEMIES. I am giving 100% of the profits to the Salvation Army.
The fate of Victor is in your hands, He is depending upon you.
Victor is grumbling about being captive of somebody else's tomorrow! (Which is a great song by the talented Patty Griffin from her album, CHILDREN RUNNING THROUGH)
You are so prolific! Congrats on the new book coming out in June. And also thank you again for your kind words on my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lydia:
ReplyDeleteI like your new Avatar. And I meant every word in my comment. Thosee interested will just have to go visit Lydia's always engrossing blog. And thanks for the nice words here, too, Roland
