What do you think of it?
It's great to see Michael Keaton in this movie.
You know it is not just actresses who get picked for fewer roles as they age.
Anyone who's watched BIRDMAN knows what a great actor Michael is.
Surely, there must be roles for accomplished actors out there no matter their age.
Are we telling our older citizens that they no longer count,
that they no longer have anything to contribute in life?
What do you think of Iron Man in this movie?
Doesn't he have the best lines in this trailer?
Sony is planning to do a spin-off movie universe of Spidey
devoid of Tom Holland and with no connection to the MCU.
Do you think Sony is shooting itself in the corporate foot again?
Tell me what you think.
I do think it will be a lot of fun. The kid is a natural dork for Spiderman.
ReplyDeleteI think Tom Holland will make a great Spiderman in that you believe him as a geek teenager. :-)
DeleteOur culture does tell and show most older people that they have nothing to contribute. It's much harder for people to find a new job as they age. I'm a case in point. Women older than forty are the last group to recover from the unemployment problem we've had in the U.S. I'm fortunate that I can edit books and work on my own, but in spite of my education and experience, I can't find a full-time job.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Sadly, that is so true. I pray that you can find a full-time job soon. Few accept the fact that they, too, will grow old and be in the same boat!
DeleteI loved the Spider-Man scenes in the Captain America: Civil War movie, although I'm having a hard time getting used to an Aunt May that Tony Stark would call "Aunt Hottie!"
ReplyDeleteYes, that is again the sad "Age Bias" rearing its ugly head. :-(
DeleteI did love Spiderman scenes in Civil War, too.
I don't know anything about these movies. About getting older in Hollywood, I do miss actors like Helen Hayes, so beautiful with all her wrinkles. A face well lived in. You don't see much of that any more and that's sort of sad.
ReplyDeleteI, like you, miss the character revealed in the face of a person who's lived life fully. I cringe at the bloated, stretched faces of those actors desperate to appear youthful so as to still be hired. Sigh.
DeleteLaugh lines, eyes deepened by the cost of hard-won wisdom and compassion. I miss those -- again like you.
Great to see you again, Inger!
This looks like a Spider Man movie I would like to see.
ReplyDeleteI always think Sony is shooting itself in its foot.
Sony does seem to trip themselves up, don't they? Usually out of greed. Great to see you here! :-)
DeleteHi Roland - certainly an entertaining movie that I will watch anon! Perhaps in the UK we're better at putting our respected actors/actresses into roles that are appropriate for their age ... Helen Mirren is one that springs to mind, but Maggie Smith, Ian McKellen and others ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI have to agree. In the UK, it seems that talent is respected irregardless of age. BTW, I see most of my movies in the theater alone. :-)
DeleteSpiderman was never one of my favorites, but this trailer looks better than the last.
ReplyDeleteSo, how many Spidermans will we end up with in a ten year span - 4? That's a lot of people playing Spiderman.
