“There was no respect for youth when I was young, and now that I am old, there is no respect for age.
I missed it coming and going.”
- J B Priestley
Countess Elizabeth Báthory
Considered by many to be the world's worst
female serial killer,
She was the true inspiration for Bram Stoker's
Dracula.
Legend has it that she bathed in the blood of at
least 650 servant girls she had tortured and killed to retain her youth.
Did you know that Vampire Facelifts and
Young Blood Transfusions are a Thing, now?
Older people are transfusing
the blood of the young
to try to halt
or reverse the effects of aging.
Plasma from young people between 16 and 25 is transfused into patients over 30
as part of a clinical trial called “Ambrosia.”
The treatment costs $8,000 for one liter or $12,000 for two!
Creepy, much?
A long time ago I read a series of science fiction books by Anne McCaffrey in which one of the processes available for the wealthy was referred to as "rejuvenation". There were no specifics given but effectively the process would regress the body's age to young adult. Some extremely wealthy people were known to have undergone "rejuv" several times.
ReplyDeleteRoger Zelazny did the same with his THIS IMMORTAL. Sometimes fact catches up to science fiction, right? Thanks for visiting and commenting. It means a lot. :-)
DeleteI heard Sandra Bullock in a show about how she rejuvenates her skin using epidermal growth factors derived from Stem cells taken from the discarded foreskins of new born babies in Korea. I think its vanity. We should age with respect and being healthy is the most important aspect of life!

That's a little creepy about Sandra Bullock. Brrr. There are limits in what we should do to look good! :-)
DeleteFact is stranger -- and creepier! -- than fiction.
