U is for UNDERSTANDING

“Life can only be understood backwards;
but it must be lived forwards.”
Søren Kierkegaard

 “Any fool can know.
The point is to understand.”
Albert Einstein

 “Everything that irritates us
about others
can lead us to an understanding
of ourselves.”
Carl Gustav Jung

“Nothing in life is to be feared,
it is only to be understood.

Now is the time to understand more,
so that we may fear less.”
Marie Curie

DO YOU THINK MANY
OF THE WORLD'S
PROBLEMS
STEM FROM LACK OF
UNDERSTANDING?

  1. Hi Roland ... yes and lack of thought; also consideration of others ... love the quotes you've given us - cheers Hilary

  2. The quote by Soren truly resonates. I am noting this down!
Sometimes, even if we don't understand someone's perspective, it is important to be sympathetic towards them. In other word rather than giving an instant reaction there should be thoughtful action. Words hurt and can't be taken back. (Individual level)
Difference of opinion sure is a cause of contention for most world problems - but only dialogue and mutual respect is the way.

    1. Everyone we meet is having a harder time than it appears to us. I try to remind myself of that during each day. Thanks for visiting and talking with me. :-)

  3. Lack of a wanting to understand, perhaps. Also greed. And the resulting lack of empathy.

    1. I believe you're right: people are too self-focused to see much beyond themselves these days. So good to see you here, Inger. :-)

  4. I think many of them do. A lack of understanding and communication.
