Can Anyone Hear What You Are Saying?
Sadly, no.
We IWSG 2017 Anthologists have a great new web-page to promote our fascinating book:
https://lostheroanthology.wordpress.com/

But how to get the attention of the internet beyond the Author Blog Ghetto?
Over a million books were published
last year alone.
To call the book marketplace over-crowded
is an understatement!
I could promise a date with Ryan Gosling
to the person buying the most copies of our Anthology.
But his publicist and attorney keep sending me certified letters mentioning
strange words
like CEASE and DESIST
in response to my repeated requests
for his help.
Party Poopers.
So what to do?
In your part of the country The DA VINCI CODE was probably an instant success.
Not so much hereabouts.
It took long months of slowly building positive buzz to make it a best seller here.
Which brings me back to the
HERO LOST ANTHOLOGY WEBPAGE
Day by Day, new posts will be added
giving you new insights to the
different stories.

Don't Miss This Ride!
Cease and desist, huh? LOL. Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteWell, I tried to interest Scarlet Johannson -- I would have bought a thousand or so copies to go out with her! :-)
DeleteAs the market is flooded with new novels, it is also flooded with anthologies. What makes this one stand out? Even the big names are compiling anthologies. More competition. All I can suggest has probably been discussed: increase visibility, (are those authors in the anthology visiting other blogs to generate reciprocity), or is there a badge that can be posted on IWSG blogs and others who want to support the effort and increase visibility? Good luck. I've only seen your posts, Roland, and I suspect most bloggers only visit their usual suspects. . .
ReplyDeleteI will make a badge myself for the anthology once it comes out. I am thinking of making my own post cards and mailing them to those whose addresses I know.
DeleteI don't think many of the other anthologists have done many posts yet, while I have been trying to post about the anthology in interesting ways most days to whet interest. :-)
I just bookmarked it and will visit often. Awesome you guys started a website.
ReplyDeleteI'm just the caboose of this train. Other heroic anthologists built and started it. I'm running up behind as fast as I can. :-)
DeleteI could offer up a date with my husband. He can't afford an attorney.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like Ryan, does he? Ah, don't answer. He might read your answer! :-)
DeleteAll kidding aside, Ryan Gosling is supportive of various social causes from working with Peta to encourage KFC and McDonalds's to use improved methods of chicken slaughter in their factories, to working in Dafar refugee camps in Chad, to helping the volunteer efforts in cleaning up Biloxi, Miss. after Katrina.
ReplyDeletePromise Kate Beckinsale and Alex will visit. LOL
ReplyDeleteOh, no, Alex would have to buy many, many copies to win a date with Kate Beckinsale -- and his wife would probably divorce him! :-)
DeleteDon't think Ryan Gossling's wife is too nuts about the date idea!
ReplyDeleteI'll be checking out the anthology, Roland my dear -- but I'm afraid that first I have to get my Kindle fixed! At least it's under warranty.
I would hate for my Kindle to be broken! Hope yours is fixed soonest. :-)
DeleteCongrats on your acceptance.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donna! :-)
DeletePerhaps a marketing strategy - like the one Raimey Gallant has a template for on her blog today for IWSG - can go a long way to promote the anthology. All the best.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ronel! I'll go check it out. :-)
DeleteCease and desist indeed. How rude. Look, the next time Ryan's back in Canada, I'll have a chant, I mean chat with him and explain his obligation. The boy needs reminding ever so often. Congratulations, Roland on your anthology. It's a great book.
ReplyDeleteI believe all the authors are great -- except for me says the ghost of Mark Twain: he says I was picked because he is my mentor!
DeleteLOL those pesky attorneys. Just won't let people have any fun. Looking forward to the anthology.
ReplyDeleteYes, those pesky lawyers take all the fun out of my get-rich-quick schemes!
DeleteVery cool. I'm looking forward to reading your contribution, along with all the others. I'm sure it's a stellar collection and it already has a special spot reserved on my digital bookshelf.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK. I know you will like all the others, for they are fantastic authors.
DeleteThanks for the laugh today! And Ryan is missing out...keep the faith and the energy rolling! I can't wait to read your story.
ReplyDeleteRyan is missing out on a divorce from Eva Mendes by not going out on a date with another woman!! :-)
DeleteI am eager to read your story, too!
Did you make the cut? Super cool. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteNancy
I didn't make the cut last year, and I nearly lost my place this year! Just goes to show you never know.
DeleteThanks for being happy for me, for I know how much you wanted to be in this anthology. You're a special lady. :-)
I'd love to see that statue in person. Hope it's real! Sometimes advertising a book is like screaming mutely into the ether.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I hope that statue is real. It is riveting against the background of the ocean, isn't it?
DeleteI have the book with that Rackham illustration in it.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes it's so hard to promote a book these days... All we can do is help one another to the best of our ability.
Arthur Rackham is one of my favorite illustrators, too. Sometimes I feel like I am singing to an empty theater with my books. Thanks for making me feel not quite so alone. :-)
DeleteJust last week I read a piece (in Publishers Weekly, I think) about how even bestselling authors are suffering. With the flood of books into the market, even the biggest selling authors don’t stay on the bestseller list as long as they once did. Thus their visibility is reduced. Maybe that’s good for the rest of us? :)
ReplyDeleteVR Barkowski
If the sharks are hurting, it cannot be good for us minnows! Ouch! :-)
DeleteYou're right about the buzz slowly building. I remember that about Hunger Games. Little by little I was hearing something about the book but it wasn't until it hit the facebook moms that I really took a look. They were posting what they thought, how their kids liked it, links to it...but it took like half a year before I sought it out myself based on word of mouth buzz in my social circles.
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way about The Hunger Games as you. It took the movie before I started reading the books. :-)
DeleteSounds like you guys are creating a great, fascinating blog. I'll do all I can to promote the anthology. :)
ReplyDeleteThe blog is fantastic because of the creative people behind it -- not me! I am cyber-challenged!
DeleteI am really looking forward to the anthology! I will do whatever I can to spread the word. The website looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Doreen!
DeleteIn the crowded marketplace it can be mighty difficult to get noticed. Even spending millions or having the most inventive marketing tactics can end in failure. But a person with something to market has to keep trying and persist.
ReplyDeleteIf only you could get Donald Trump to tweet about it then you'd get noticed.
Arlee Bird
Tossing It Out
It is nearly impossible to be noticed outside the Author Blog Ghetto these days -- too many writers in too small a pond. :-( LOL about Trump!
DeleteCongratulations! Wishing you tons of success with this, Ronald :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Damyanti. :-)
