THREE SPIRIT KNIGHT_The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

I am to answer the next 10 questions ... so here goes:

What is the working title of your book?

THREE SPIRIT KNIGHT

Where did the idea come from for the book?

I thought it might be fun if a protagonist found out all his saving the day had ended the world.  How could someone undo that?  If your mother is the Angel of Death, you have a shot at it.

What genre does your book fall under?

The easy answer would be YA Urban Fantasy.  But it involves Norns, Off-Reality Betting, the Sidhe, the realm of Never-Was, the loathsome She Who Breeds, and the Twilight of the Gods ... in New Orleans of all places.  So Epic Fantasy fits as well.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

A teenage Robert Downey, Jr. for Victor Standish.

Elle Fanning for Alice Wentworth.

Cate Blanchett for the Angel of Death.

And Gerard Butler for Samuel McCord.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Wanting a respite from the demands of her existence, the Angel of Death sacrifices her son, and he struggles to save those he loves without losing her heart.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Self-published unless Harper Collins Voyager decides to pick up the adventures of Victor Standish.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

Still writing it.  (I write the first draft and polish it as I go along.)

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

SUPER 8 meets TRUE BLOOD meets CLOUD ATLAS.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

My harrowing days on the streets of New Orleans during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

There are naked pictures of Olivia Wilde in it.

(Just checking to see if you were still with me.)

The question:

If you knew going back in time and undoing yourself would save those you love though they would not remember you, would you do it?

I do not tag since so many dislike it, so if any of you would like to answer these questions, please consider yourselves invited to do so.

Presently, the lovely Quincy Coleman is perfoming at Meilori's.  Come sit with me at McCord's table and listen to her evocative song, CALLING YOUR NAME.

{Is that Victor Standish behind those sunglasses?}

MEET AND GREET

Thanks to the lovely Candilynn Fite:

I heard of the GEARING UP TO GET AN AGENT BLOGFEST!

It is hosted by the equally lovely Deana Barnhart:

Here are the questions we are to answer to break the ice with one another:

Where do you write?

I write in the kitchen where all the necessities are to be found: hot tea, cold coke, and dark chocolate!

-Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to your left. What is the first thing you see?

I see the stuffed German Shepherd puppy in his fluffy bed, his battery-operated side going up and down as if he were sleeping. Little Buddy never makes a mess and relaxes me as I write!

-Favorite time to write?

No favorite time. As a harried rare blood courier, I write whenever I can squeeze some pages in. I try to write at least one page per sitting.

-Drink of choice while writing?

Hot tea. Captain Picard, Jayne of THE MENTALIST, and I love hot tea. :-)

-When writing , do you listen to music or do you need complete silence?

I listen to soundtracks mostly: Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, John Williams, James Horner, etc. Like Candilynn Fite, I also listen to PANDORA.

-What was your inspiration for your latest manuscript and where did you find it?

THREE SPIRIT KNIGHT was inspired in a sense by THE HUNGER GAMES and my desire to have my scamp of a hero right the wrongs in my END OF DAYS.

-What's your most valuable writing tip?

The best tip I've found is from Ernest Hemingway (whose ghost often visits this blog) who said the key to success was NOT writing. It was RE-WRITING.

D. G. Hudson thought the teaser cover blurb to this image was best. What do you think?

And thanks to the second person who has bought THE LEGEND OF VICTOR STANDISH. Right now, after the hospital, it means more than I can say! :-)

Victor Quote of the Day:
"Don’t let your mind wander. It’s too little to be let out alone."

On Amazon's Best Selling Haunted New Orleans list, my books (BURNT OFFERINGS, THE RIVAL, CREOLE KNIGHTS & THE LEGEND OF VICTOR STANDISH)

are #7, 8, 10, ll respectively! Odd in that only LEGEND has sold a mere 3 copies! Does anyone understand Amazon's math?
