ALEX CAVANAUGH & ME AT MEILORI'S for A TO Z BLOG

Hello, Everyone:

Sorry I am later than usual.  A robber last night in my parking lot has me in stitches. Only one knife wound: not so wide as the ocean or deep as a well -- but it will do.

A couple of days off, and I will be almost fine.  :-)

Now, if you want to have a fun, one of a kind interview go to BLOGGING FROM A TO Z CHALLENGE:
http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/2013/12/challenge-participant-feature-roland.html

Last night it occurred to me (among other things!)

that I could not remember if I have ever told you, my friends, how much your visits and comments mean to me --
how much your friendship has meant to me.

Thank all of you for being the special people you are.  Roland

  1. Oh, a thought: I have a few audiobooks of BURNT OFFERINGS to give away for FREE.

Francene Lockett did an awesome job.

Give it a listen, will you?

Email or comment here to let me know if you want a free copy.

A review would be nice but not mandatory.

I'm going to lay down and mend a bit.

  2. Hi Roland

Just popped in to say hi after being more or less absent from the blogging world for the last couple of years or so. Now, is this incident last night for real? Because if it is, that is sobering indeed. It's nice to know someone is looking out for you. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

PS I was waiting for ages for Victor Standish to arrive in print, and I now see he's multiplied! Where should I start?!

  3. I've missed you, Dominic:
Yes, sadly, it was all too real and frightening (especially so since the robber got away.)

It was sobering and enlightening. Life has become even more dangerous and fragile than I had thought. But I found out that pepper spray does work and that I was smart to walk with it in hand in the parking lot!

THE LEGEND OF VICTOR STANDISH is the starting point:

I've sent you the free codes for LEGEND and BURNT OFFERINGS. I hope you enjoy them. :-)

  4. Bloody hell. Sorry to hear this, Roland. And like Dominic said, it is indeed very sobering. Clearly you were just in the wrong place at the right time. I trust your injuries will heal quickly.

Take care of yourself - and yay for pepper spray! xo

  5. Holy crap!! Glad it was minor and you are still with us. Your parking lot is dangerous - isn't that where you were run over as well?
Thanks again for doing the interview. Appreciate you, my friend!

  6. Wow! I can't believe you are even here. Glad to know your injury isn't too bad. Yes, get some rest and get well soon. Oh, and stay out of that parking lot!

  7. Awww thanks Roland. I really enjoyed The Bear with Two Shadows.

    Take care and heal fast!

  8. WENDY:
Some years back when the street by my apartment complex was flooded, and a car with water-logged, useless brakes side-swiped me as I was taking out garbage!

Since Hurricane Rita, my apartment complex is mostly empty - a prime location for skulkers. But the rent is cheap, and I really hate the act of moving!

    Yes, yay for pepper spray.

    Alex:
Luckily, the wound is minor: long but not deep. I really hate stitches! And I appreciate you, too. :-)

    Scribbles from Jenn:
To get to my apartment, I have to use this parking lot, but the owner has just put up more lights.

And YAY for pepper spray. :-)

    Dominic:
I'm glad you liked THE BEAR WITH TWO SHADOWS. Hibbs likes you back. He has a cameo in END OF DAYS. :-)

  9. Oh noes!! Are you ok? Have you been attacked? :-( Oh you have! Oh no.
I can't get my head round this news. I just hope you are ok.

    Take care

  10. Kitty:
    Oh, noes! is right.

The wound is long but not deep. The owner of the place has put lights in all the burnt out ones now. Snowball, my new cat, is fuming. He depends on me to feed him, and I almost "fell down" on the job!

I will just have to be more mindful of my surroundings. Victor Standish has insisted -- who else will write his magnificent adventures? Alice just cuffed him for that statement. :-)

I will mend in a month's time -- until then I will have to take it easy.

  11. One of my favorite prayers and Sarah Mclachlan makes it shine. I may not be the best follower but I enjoy your writing and your blog.

  12. The Desert Rocks:
It is my favorite prayer, and Sarah McLachlan does make it shine, doesn't she?

I think of you as a good friend. Thanks for enjoying my writing and my blog. Last night, I wondered if I had touched anybody truly with my prose. Then, Victor pimp-slapped me out of my mood. :-)

  13. You're special to us, too, Roland. Please take care of yourself. Parking lots can be very dangerous places. Many years ago I was mugged. I still don't walk at night without something heavy clasped in my hand.

  14. Roland, this is incredibly scary! Take care of yourself, my friend, and get better soon. I'm thinking of you.

  15. VR:
Thanks. I am so glad you physically survived the mugging! From now on, I will be more mindful and carry something Sam suggested.

    Vesper:
It was scary. It is long but not deep. But now, I have to carry boxes down the stairs since the apartment owner is now (after 2 years) spraying for bed bugs. It's been 9 months since I last saw or was bitten by one. They are using pyrethrin -- something that cats are very sensitive to. I looked at this YouTube of a cat suffering frorm exposure.

The professionals say Snowball will be safe in the bathroom and be safe after 4 hours in the rest of the apartment. Yeah, right.

  16. I think you should follow Sam's suggestion, Roland. Thank heavens you're okay. It's never good to be on the wrong end of a knife.

Smart of you to have the pepper spray in hand. Glad you're okay. Take time to heal properly. . .for all of us.

  17. D.G.:
I think I will follow Sam's suggestion. The Father is watching over me. No, the wrong end of a knife is frightening.

I lost the pepper spray in the tussle. I need to get some more.

    Thanks for being concerned, Roland

  18. Oh my--what does one say who has be knifed! Please do mend, physically and emotionally ...

  19. What a terrible thing to have happen, Roland. I am so sorry. Please take care of yourself. I have sent you a book via email from amazon as a gift - something for you to do while you mend. Take care.

  20. Hi Roland - what is the world coming to - there is so much of this going on .. but to hear it happened to you is shocking. I'm just so glad it's not worse, and yes please get some more pepper spray ...

I hope it heals quickly - probably a couple of weeks at least.

You're always so generous in your thoughts, and with your writing and books ... somehow if a wrong'un attacks 'us' they should find out who they're attacking .. a blood courier is so essential to many and then appreciate that person's worth ...

I hope you heal quickly and that the lights and new pepper spray deter him again, or others ...

    All the best - Hilary
