Moving Into A New Apartment ... at TWICE my last rent! IWSG post

Talk about insecure!

Livable apartments are almost impossible to find in this city

so those with them are asking for premium rents.

How I will pay this impossible rent, I do not know.

So if you have been tempted to buy one of my audio or paperbacks, or Kindle books ...

now would be a great time.

My two NOT SO INNOCENTS books are intriguing.

French Quarter Requiem is interesting, too.

But all of us are facing struggles and challenges this New Year.

"Perseverance is the hard work you do AFTER you get tired of doing the hard work you already did!"

 - Newt Grigrich

that is what keeps so many of us going --
including me.

I can't promise things will change tomorrow ...

only that change is inevitable.

There can only be so many Jokers in a deck, right?

Change is the Nature of Life ...
keep at it: something will come your way.

Focus on things you can control ...
take a moment and breathe ...
you can control your lungs ...

Celebrate what is good with your life.

Life is not a book ...
we can't see how our problems will end ...
only that they will,
in some way, end.

Do something manageable and
praise yourself for doing it.

Break things into small chunks of doable tasks.

Know why you started ...
Know why you're in the fight
to stay in the fight!

Remember if your dream is easy,
you shouldn't be doing it.

Wish me luck in carrying what belongings I have up that second story staircase ...

As I will be wishing you luck in climbing to your dream.

  1. I wish you luck and all the many things life may offer to relieve your burdens. I can't imagine the nightmare you see daily.

LA county has become the new epicenter for Covid, averaging 15K-20K new cases daily, with Hospital ICU vacancies at Zero %. 293 people died 2 days ago in LA Covid County.

I know 2021 could possibly be worse than 2020, but such is hard to imagine. I think things can only be better in the new year ahead, I hope! Let's Pray we find the way, the truth and the light in the days, weeks, months and years ahead.

I await the scalpel for pending cervical surgery. Even with this depressing news, things have to only get better, even if they have to get worse first, I hope! I pray! Breath by breath, moment by moment, may blessings find you dear friend!

    1. I will say many prayers for success and little pain with quick recovery in your impending surgery, my friend.

  2. I hope this uplifting post lifter you up as well. I will go look for a book to buy, in the meantime best wishes for a better 2021.

    1. Thanks, Inger. You caught me: I was trying to boost my own morale with this post. :-) Thanks for looking to buy one of my books!

  3. Oh Roland, yay that you are getting your own place. It may be hard, but I know you will find a way. Sending hugs and prayers from my Covid-ridden home.

  4. Glad you have a place now. Sucks they are over-charging. I was stunned to learn how much apartments go for in my town - almost three times more than my mortgage!

    1. My old apartment was expensive, but these apartment owners are just price-gouging and getting away with it. :-(

  5. Hi Roland - all the very best ... at least you have a place to stay ... and I hope Midnight can be with you. Take care and with thoughts - Hilary

    1. Thanks so much, Hilary. Off to see if I can move in now. :-)

  6. Hi Roland, I left a comment yesterday, but I don't see it. I plan to get one of your books on audible. Take care. I hope the move goes well. Sorry about the price-gougers. That stinks. Stay well.

    1. There are a lot of stairs to carry things up and down!! Hate that Blogger ate your comment. Thanks for buying one of my audio books. This place is fancy to have so little of furniture in it! :-)

  7. I just realized I'm logged into the wrong account but darned if I know how to change over ... Good luck with the new place. I know exactly how you feel with the doubled payment! I'm starting to think about finding a cheaper place myself if I can find a decent job so I can get a mortgage on it! Hope your place suits you and works out perfectly!

    1. EJ, I better hit the lotto is all I can say! May your own rent blues get better!

  8. You've been to hell and back, Roland. I hope you're able to make that rent and settle in after all of the disruption last year. I swear, I don't know anyone who had it easy in 2020.

    1. 2020 sure has been a rotten year, hasn't it. Lee? Everyone in Lake Charles has been through the ringer. And now, it is pouring cats and dogs outside!

  9. Good luck, Roland. Love the quotes.
